A priest who enjoys using an APO telescope for solar and deep space photography, and who shares his work on AstroBin processed using PixInsight, might seem unusual. However, the Vatican does have an observatory and an astronomy research group, making it one of the oldest active observatories in the world. Interestingly, John Dobson, who sparked the popularity of Dobsonian telescopes over the past few decades, was a monk who was expelled from his monastery for secretly building telescopes.
